I love Halloween. There is something about taking the kids out and meeting neighbors, and each year though you don't see them for the whole year. These neighbors remember you and the kids and wow how they have grown. Such fun
Halloween is a bit different now with all the crackers out there. So now a days we go through the candy make sure our kids won't end up in the hospital. God forbid you put something in the front yard that might offend a passer by.......And don't even get me started on the people that create Halloween items to sell and they get bombarded with hate email because it isn't a "religious" thing to do .......to this people as have said in the past, go mind your own......and maybe follow up on your religion. I was happy to see the history channel has a wonderful write up on Halloween I invite you to go visit and read and learn before you outcast people for having fun and enjoying Halloween.
I am a christian BTW and 100% a "Happy Halloweener" :)
Want to make some cool tombstones for Halloween decoration. Save Styrofoam blocks you get in packaging , you can even go to a furniture store and ask for the Styrofoam they package in.
Take this Styrofoam and a butter knife works best and cut the shape of a tombstone come on its a basic shape you can do it. Now take your finger and press dates, a message or Happy Halloween into the front of the tombstone (Just push in a little pressure with your finger, and make it)
Take grey spray paint and spray it all over nothing special here and there now take black and do the same You don't want a solid coat just hear and there. You will see the effect and keep going until you have the look you want.
Now take some kind of metal you know a coat hanger works great, stick it through the end and about half the way up and leave some so it can go into the ground So yes go and put it in the ground................You can add cobwebs, spiders, bats, hands whatever you want to each tombstone. Have fun with it. Kids love the spooky houses, and you can do it so cheaply. Oh and the old stand by
Take a grocery bag stuff it with newspaper or more bags tie the end. Take a piece of yarn run it through the bag take a sheet put it over the bag. and run the string of yarn through the top. now you can hang a ghost, even can add some cobwebs to that too. Or how about some glow in the dark paint.
And let me tell you kids love Pennies so you don't have to go out and get candy a couple pennies and the kids love it!
Now a days Halloween is for the kids have fun enjoy it the kids do love the dressing up and going to house to house and what a way to escape from our scary little world we have to live with each day!
